The right setup depends on your car, how far you drive each day, and whether the property has single-phase or three-phase supply. Oleada Electrical handles the whole home charging station installation, including the switchboard and network work it often involves.
A 7kW single-phase charger suits most Brisbane homes. It adds roughly 30 to 40 kilometres of range an hour, so a normal day’s driving is replaced overnight. Three-phase supply allows a 22kW charger, which makes sense for households running two EVs, covering long daily distances, or driving a car that accepts faster AC charging. Queensland adds one local rule to the decision. Energex sets a general limit of 20A for single-phase equipment, so a 32A single-phase charger has to be connected through a network device, a controlled-load tariff or a dynamic connection that lets the network trim charging during peak stress. A 22kW three-phase charger switched across all three phases can be connected without that arrangement.

Supply at the property |
Single phase, which is most Brisbane homes |
Three phase already connected, or an upgrade planned |
|
Daily driving |
Under about 150 km a day |
Two EVs or long daily distances |

Overnight charging |
Full charge for most cars in 6 to 10 hours |
Faster, where the car accepts three phase AC charging |
|
Energex connection |
Network device, controlled-load tariff or dynamic connection required |
Connected without those options when switched across all phases |

Switchboard |
Spare capacity for a 32A circuit, or an upgrade |
Three phase board with capacity for the charger circuit |
The charger unit, the length of the cable run and the condition of the switchboard decide most of the price. A charger mounted beside a switchboard with spare capacity is a short job. A charger in a detached carport 30 metres away, on a board that also needs new protection, is a bigger one. The price also covers the network connection option, so there is nothing left to add once the work is booked.
On an older or crowded board, an electrical safety inspection before the install shows whether other circuits need attention, and a surge protector fitted at the board covers the charger too.
Oleada Electrical installs EV chargers across Brisbane, from the western suburbs around Kenmore and Indooroopilly through the inner south and bayside to Ipswich and the Redlands. All of it sits on the Energex network, so the connection rules above apply wherever you are and our team lodges the paperwork as part of the job.
The same residential electricians handle the rest of the home, so extra power points for the garage or workshop can be added in the same visit.
Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors and other major brands that carry Australian RCM approval, following the manufacturer's installation requirements. Bring the unit and we take care of the circuit, mounting, testing and network paperwork.
Your car charges while you sleep, on a circuit built for it, without cables trailing from a power point. Oleada Electrical fits the charger, sorts the network connection and leaves you with a certificate of testing and a price that did not change along the way.
